On May 12, 2009, In a stockholders meeting, Petron Corporation announced that it will embark on an aggressive retail network expansion program to bring the company’s first-rate fuel products and quality services closer to Filipino motorists. Petron already has 1,300 service stations nationwide but it plans to expand another 200 retail stations within a 12 month period.

“We intend to pursue this expansion program to further enhance customer convenience and bring the Petron brand closer to Filipinos. This is also in line with our strategic initiative to strengthen the company’s core business and ensure our market dominance over the long-term,” Petron Chairman and CEO Ramon S. Ang said.

Part of the plan is set to pursue a vigorous program to launch the Bulilit Station concept – a small, stand-alone facility composed of one to three product pumps.

The Bulilit Station can easily be built on small lots and be integrated with existing sites such as provincial marketplaces, transport terminals, even highway bus stops across the country especially in rural areas.

This program aims to further improve customer convenience and bring world class fuels and products closer to Filipino consumers.

“We are seeing a strong potential in the concept of the Bulilit Station to supply underserved areas with our products and services. This is also aligned with our strategic initiative to ensure our market dominance over the long-term,” VP for Consumer Marketing Ramon V. Del Rosario said.

“The concept is pre-fabricated models that can start with one to three product pumps but easily expandable as demand grows,” Mr. Del Rosario explained.

The Bulilit Station can also serve as outlets for Petron’s well-known lubricant brands like Ultron and Rev-X, and Gasul.

With the cost of traditional media soaring, Redmedia has proposed to Petron Corporation to use On-Line Ads to help market and sell the Bulilit Station concept and prove that the Internet is a cost effective media that can help support the Bulilit Station marketing campaign.

Using our Internet Media site property – Inboundpass – as a platform to launch the On Line Ad campaign due to its high traffic statistics and huge college basketball fan base, Redmedia developed three essential elements to capture parties or individuals interested in acquiring a Bulilit Station and these are: a Bulilit Station Banner Ad patterned after the print ad that distributed among the major dailies, an inquiry site page, and a message delivery engine that parties or individuals can register their contact details with an easy to answer requirement checklist.

As the maiden sponsor of the site, Petron with its Bulilit Station initiative, launched an on -line campaign on Inboundpass was launched on August 23, 2009, since then the banner Ad has been seen over 420,000 times with a cost per lead of PhP 500.00 and still getting lower.

With an average cost of Php 43,000 per insert of a full color ad in a major publication with X number of thousands or millions in circulation, a typical print campaign will cost around Php 270,000 per month PER major daily. But you got three major dailies. So the cost per campaign in print media will cost around half a million to run just to get below the average cost per lead of Php 4,000.

The mean time to inquiry is longer in a print ad than an on-line ad. Once the potential investor spots the on-line ad, they can instantly input their contact details and answer some key questions if the minimum requirements to owning a Bulilit Station can be met. In a print ad, none of this infrastructure is present so the amount of time to know the potential investor’s interest in the project can be seen nor detected.

This is a very clear evidence that On-Line ads are here. It’s about time that companies must take advantage of the New Media.

Last September 6, 2008 was indeed a lot of firsts.

The 1st WordCamp in the Philippines and the first in Southeast Asia.

First time for CSB (our host school) to be involved in an international Open Source event.

RedMedia‘s first time to co-organize a blogger event. (More events to come)

1st time to collaborate with the Mindanao Bloggers. It was a pleasant experience so for sure it won’t be the last.

It was Matt’s first time in the Philippines and Asia as well. (We hoped it was the first time he ate ‘balut’ or to rock ‘n roll in a kareoke bar but we failed to make him.)

It was indeed serious fun. Mike and I (RedMedia) were co-organizer with the Mindanao Bloggers headed by Blogie Robillo. We helped out with the admin preparations, logistics, etc. More memorable was because I was the “official” chaperone, GRO, hawi-boy, bodyguard, driver, nanny, yaya for Mr. WordPress tagging along Atty. Jomi Manalo and his BMW X5 and fleet of cars.

More thanks goes to our very gracious venue host, School of Management Information Technology (SMIT) of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde headed by Dean Benhur Ong. To all the volunteers (you know who you are) thank you for your dedication.

The Mindanao Bloggers core team (Andrew, Ria, Winston & Migs) was a joy to work with. Sa uulitin.

Of course, it was a family affair. I was with my lovely wife, Marites and my kids (Carissa & Joshua). They are the youngest WordCampers (until disputed). More photos here. More coverage here http://www.google.com/search?q=wordcamp+philippines

The WordCamp chillax after-party was a blast with Paul “Pageman” Pajo rock-eoke Zombie! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSmtp_76w5Q

Redmedia Solutions, Inc. www.redmediacrm.com, a digital brand and relationship marketing company is proud to announce its completion of another Social Media project, “Believe”, the 2008 Smart PBA Philippine Cup Champions – the Sta. Lucia Realtors is a professional basketball team currently playing in the Philippine Basketball Association(PBA) owned and managed by Philippine Real Estate Industry leader, Sta. Lucia Realty.

The Sta. Lucia Realtors team website has an amazing array of Social Media features that allows user-generated content and information sharing. Technologies such as blogs, RSS, social networking, AJAX, player photo galleries were employed in building the website. Fans of the Sta. Lucia Realtors can post comments and their views about the team and their favorite player while connecting with other fans alike.

According to Redmedia Managing Partner, Michael Abasolo that “like our other Social Media projects, the main thing about the site is to build a venue were Sta. Lucia Realtors fans can relate and share their common passions about their favorite team, player, and especially, basketball”. “It’s an honor for us to build such a site for PBA Champs like the Realtors”, he continued.

Abasolo added that, “one of the fundamental highlights of our Social Media projects is sharing information, because, ultimately, sharing is good. Businesses, whether large or SME, should learn from this experience and harness the power of the Internet to communicate and interact with their customers. We firmly believe that this site is a step towards the right direction”.

The Sta. Lucia Realtors distinctive photo gallery and site design was made possible thru Redmedia’s fusion of creative people such as award winning photographer, Jorem Catilo, and controversial Internet sports reporter, Josef Ramos.

Basketball has always been the Philippines’ favorite spectator sport, particularly College Basketball. College and University student body and alumni gather for this once a year event to feel the passion, excitement and have the bragging rights to wear thier institutions’ traditions in their chest to express their support. Institutions that have been a part of them – nurture friendships, relationships, future colleagues and own individuality – almost the 1st half of their very lives. It is thru this inspiration that this website has been born.

Initially conceptualized by former Philippine Internet college basketball writers of a popular league, excuse me for using this term, portal – Mike Abasolo, Charlie Cuna, Coach Jude Roque and Kim Lesaca together with Ronald Lucero Dave Quitoriano and Jorem Catilo, inboundpass.com brings to Philippine college basketball viewers a unique internet media experience. Inboundpass.com covers the invitational and preseason tournaments, exhibition matches, the collegiate season itself, the Collegiate National Championships and in between news and highlights for a whole year.

It was based around the web 2.0 foundation of collaboration, interaction and sharing. Aside form its original content, inboundpass.com also has a wide variety of photos, rare video footages, rss feeds, widgets and twitter for those on the move and would want to be updated.

Launched last December 2006, inboundpass.com’s first outbreak was during the release of a controversial article involving an ineligible player from a respectable and probably the oldest educational institution in the Philippines. Inboundpass.com does not aim to please anyone, it has been critical of relevant basketball issues but will always embrace ethical standards.

Aside from its controversial impression, among the unique variables that made inboundpass.com an example of web standards is its reader comments feature. Followers and fanatics of Philippine college basketball can post their comments in each and every article that the resident writer publishes. But, what is more important and powerful is that the writer can reply to the comments posted on the thread with a corresponding stamp identifying the author. This feature gives the site visitors an avenue to express their views with a sense of involvement. Inboundpass.com is still evolving and will add more features very soon such as videocast and more.

Redmedia Solutions, Inc., owner and publisher of inboundpass.com, duplicated these web standards and launched another Web 2.0 site – www.air21express.com.ph – and will continue to build around this standard in years to come.
